Your Kindle eBook Cover Design is Another

Whatever topic you do decide to write about in a particular genre, your ebook cover will also need to be of good quality.

Your Kindle ebook cover is the first visual representation of your books content, and yes, people do still judge a book, even an ebook, by it’s cover, so make yours count!

Hiring a designer to create your ebook cover can restrict your first steps into Kindle publishing on financial grounds. They are, quite rightly, not cheap to have designed professionally.

However, high quality Kindle ebook covers are not difficult to create yourself, but you can easily create a poor quality, unattractive or over fussy cover if you don’t follow some really simple guidelines.

Covers are Making a Difference!

The ‘before’ eCover for Paul’s book certainly was very unattractive and not very inviting for prospective readers.

Paul updated the content of his ebook, it was converted to Kindle format and his cover re-designed, with a little help from us here at VWA.

Now, not only is his new ebook cover eye-catching, with a great image of his art and craft work, the new version of his Papier Mache Manual, is enjoying a steady and growing number of sales, that will help support his social voluntary organisation work.

I know that when I started creating my own graphics I really thought they were good, not brilliant, but they “would do”!

Now looking back, I realise they were terrible! Not just terrible, I mean really bad!

The quality was terrible and you could tell that I’d done them myself!

So what changed?

When you take the time to look at other people’s logos and graphics you can then see what it is that you like or dislike about certain graphics or styles. 

Perhaps there is a font you like, or a way of writing your name, or style of graphic that really makes you happy when you see it and maybe that’s something you’d like to model in your own graphics. 

There isn’t really a ‘unique’ style anymore! People model elements from other things all the time to ethically create something different that reflects a complete style that they themselves love and suits them and their business or product.

Unfortunately for non-designers it was difficult to understand how designers put everything together.

It was frustrating to find something that you really loved and could see it being part of your own branding or style, yet couldn’t figure out how to create something similar yourself.

With layers you can create virtually anything you want, and model almost any design you see, because it’s by using layers that professional designers create their unique graphic design masterpieces!
